Springbank Rum Wood 2003 15y

Stone Licking

Reviewed by victor

This the second rum finished Springbank I've tried, and I kind of liked the last one.

0.3 (Pale gold)

Nose

Salty and mineralic. Small amounts of peat. Some sherry notes, a bit of vanilla. Winegums and pear ice cream.

Palate

A bit more peat here. Sweet and fruity with equal amounts of fresh, dried and cooked fruit. Hard to decide! It's fruit, alright?

Finish

Wet stones. Oranges. A hefty amount of salt on the tongue, especially at the very end.

Hard to place and pick out notes from this one. It has a little bit of everything! Not much of any Springbank-esque bike chains or hot engines, but definitely some ruggedness in form of minerals here, along the nice and sweet rum roundness. Nothing fantastic, but interesting and well done.
